What is a Geotechnical / Soils Report Review?
A geotechnical/soils report review is a process in which DSS reviews the geotechnical engineer of records report detailing the geotechnical and soil conditions of a construction site. The purpose of this review is to ensure that all recommendations that the engineer made within the geotechnical report were incorporated into the plans.
There are several steps involved in completing a geotechnical/soils report review:
1. Review the report: The first step in the review process is to thoroughly review the geotechnical/soils report. This may involve reviewing the report for accuracy and completeness, as well as identifying any potential issues or concerns.
2. Comparing the geotechnical report to the plans: As the team reviews the report, they should identify any issues or concerns that need to be addressed. This may include concerns about the consistency between the geotechnical report and the plans.
3. Communicate findings: Once the review is complete, DSS will provide a written report addressing all recommendations.
4. Address concerns: The project team should then address any issues or concerns that were identified during the review. This may involve making changes to the project plans or taking additional precautions during construction to mitigate any identified risks.
The geotechnical/soils report review process is an important tool for mitigating risk on a construction project. By thoroughly reviewing the report and identifying potential issues before construction begins, it is possible to prevent problems that could result in construction defects, delays, and/or cost overruns.
