What is a Comprehensive Peer Plan Review?
A comprehensive peer review of building plans is a process in which DSS reviews the entire design plans and specifications for a construction project. The purpose of this review is to ensure the details and specifications meet current codes, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards. We will also review the details to help verify that they do not include “designed defects” within them
There are several steps involved in completing a comprehensive peer review of building plans:
1. Review the plans: The first step in the peer review process is to thoroughly review the design plans and specifications. This may involve reviewing the plans for code compliance, constructability, and overall design quality.
2. Identify issues and concerns: As the team reviews the plans, they should identify any issues or concerns that need to be addressed. This may include concerns about code compliance, feasibility, or constructability.
3. Communicate findings: Once the review is complete, DSS will provide a written Plan Review Report addressing all the recommendations.
4. Address concerns: The design team should then address any issues or concerns that were identified during the review. This may involve making changes to the plans or providing additional information to the review team.
The comprehensive peer review process is an important tool for mitigating risk on a construction project. By thoroughly reviewing the plans and identifying potential issues before construction begins, it is possible to prevent problems that could result in construction defects, delays, and/or cost overruns.
